Career
Club
Didier Six began his professional career at the Valenciennes Club. Sixx played in the team for 5 years, the highest achievement of “Valenciennes” during this period was 12th place in the 1975/76 season of League 1 , and Six became the top scorer of the team with 10 goals. Club successes bypassed Sixx side: in the 1977/78 season he played for Lance , who could not stay in League 1, in the 1979/80 season the same thing happened with the Marseille Olympic . Moving to the Belgian club Circle Brugge in 1980, Didier Six was one of the first French football players of his generation to leave to play abroad. However, Six did not stay in Belgium and played the second half of the 1980/81 season at Strasbourg , and later played for the West German Stuttgart .
As a Galatasaray player, in 1988 Didier Six (speaking in Turkey under the name Dundar Siz) finally won the league title and also received Turkish citizenship. He ended his Sixth career in Leipzig , already in a united Germany .
Team
Michel Hidalgo , just appointed head coach of the French national team , challenged Didier Six to a friendly match against Czechoslovakia on March 27, 1976. Six replaced in the 81st minute. In addition to coach Hidalgo and Six, this match was the debut for two more players who in the future became leaders of the French team: Michel Platini and Maxim Bossi [1] . Didier Six quickly became the main player in the national team, having composed a powerful attacking trio with Bernard Lacombe and Dominic Roshto . It was the interaction of Six and Lacombe that allowed the French team to open an account in the first match of the 1978 World Cup against the Italians : already in the first minute, Six went on the left flank and made a suspended transfer into the penalty area, which Bernard Lacombe closed with a header [2] , this goal until still remains one of the fastest in the final tournaments of the world championships. That match ended with the defeat of the French team, as a result, she could not leave the group.
Despite the transition of the French national team from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2, Sixx remained the main player of the team. His goals against the national teams of Cyprus , the Netherlands and Belgium in the qualifying matches helped the French to break into the World Cup 82 . In the final tournament, Didier Six did not always enter the field in the starting lineup, scored 2 goals in 5 matches, but in the semifinal penalty shootout he failed to outplay the goalkeeper of the German national team Tony Schumacher [3] .
Didier Six played 3 matches at the 1984 European Championship and became the European champion, after which he completed his appearances for the French national team. In total, Six-colored Six-T-shirt played 52 matches in which he scored 13 goals [4] .
Coaching
In the 1986/87 season, a few years before the end of his playing career, he was for some time playing the head coach of Strasbourg [5] .
In November 2011, Six was appointed head coach of the Togo national team for two qualifying matches against Guinea-Bissau [6] . The meetings ended in favor of the Togolese team, and in early 2012, the contract with Sixx was extended for two years [7] . In June 2013, he resigned after the national team lost the chance to break into the world championship [8] .
