Biography

He came from a Khmer mountain family in southern Vietnam . In 1945, he was Professor Pali at a monastery in Phnom Penh . After World War II, he moved to Vietnam and entered Vietnam . [1] In the late 1940s, he led political information and the fundamentals of economics with a group of Khmer volunteers.

Together with Song Ngok Min, he was one of the founders of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kampuchea after the division of the Communist Party of Indochina in 1951. He was also one of the leaders of the anti-French United National Front (Khmer Issarak) (1950-1954), as well as the Minister of the Interior in the government formed by the Front.

He was the leader of the “urban” wing of the NRPK, speaking from more moderate (according to a number of authors - opportunistic) positions with respect to the support of Prince Norod Sianuk as a supporter of national unity. His previous membership in the Buddhist clergy contributed to the involvement of Buddhist monks in the political struggle. After returning from Paris, Salot Sarah (later known as Pol Pot) and other Communist students became their mentor.

On September 28-30, 1960, the Second Congress of the People's Revolutionary Party was held in Phnom Penh. It was formed by the Central Committee of 8 members and 2 candidates. The Secretary General was Tu Samut. The Central Committee included Salot Sar and Ieng Sari , and the first became a member of the permanent bureau and personal secretary of Tu Samut. [2] [3]

He was killed in 1962 under unclear circumstances in a safe house in Phnom Penh. Evidence later appeared that he was killed on the orders of Pol Pot. [4] Pol Pot himself, until recent days, has denied any involvement in the murder of Tu Samut and claimed that the killings were committed by secret police of Lon Nol [5] .
