History

The house was built in 1851 by the prosperous merchant and industrialist of that time A. Yu. Surkov , who owned a brewery nearby. At the beginning of the XX century it was framed in the forms of then eclecticism. The expensive decor was beautifully executed: carved false cornices, beautiful platbands, window sills, openwork brackets, as well as a bay window on bent brackets with two side balconies that have baluster railings.

In 1920, the building was nationalized, and in the same year a literary and publishing studio began, from which many famous northern writers came out.

Now the building is a children's music school "Harmony".

In 1991, the house was in poor condition, it needed to be restored. The building was completely dismantled and recreated on the model of the beginning of the XX century.
