Judith (poem)

Judith ( OE. Judith ) - a poem in the Wessex dialect of the Old English language , recorded in the manuscript Cotton Vitellius A. xv immediately after Beowulf . It belongs to the first half of the X century . About 350 lines have been preserved (the last three songs of the poem). The poem tells about the character of the Old Testament - Judith , who kills the enemy warlord Holofernes .
