The Archdiocese of Sorocaba ( Latin Archidioecesis Sorocabana ) is the Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its center in the city of Sorocaba , Brazil . The metropolis of Sorocaba includes the dioceses of Jundiai , Itapeva , Itapetiningi , and the Registrar . The cathedral of the Archdiocese of Sorocaba is the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary .

History
On July 4, 1924, Pope Pius XI issued the Ubi praesules bull , which established the Diocese of Sorocaba, isolating it from the archdiocese of São Paulo and the Taubate diocese. On the same day, the diocese of Sorocaba entered the metropolis of São Paulo.
On March 2, 1968, the Diocese of Sorocaba transferred part of its territory in favor of building a new Diocese of Itapeva .
On April 29, 1992, Pope John Paul II issued the bull Brasilienses fideles, which he elevated the Diocese of Sorocaba to the rank of archdiocese.
On April 15, 1998, the Archdiocese of Sorocaba transferred part of its territory to the new Diocese of Itapatingins .
