Belarusian folk tale

"Oh, and the golden snuffbox" on the postage stamp Belarus.

Belarusian folk tales - works of oral creativity of the Belarusian people .

In Belarusian folklore, fairy tales are the most diverse genre. Among other types of fairy tales, the most richly presented are fairy tales about animals, the author of the study “Russian folk tale: history of collection and study” (1914), S. V. Savchenko, noted that “fairy tales about animals are truly pearls of Belarusian fairy tale epos”. In collections of Belarusian fairy tales compiled in the 20th century, especially in collections of folklorist Serzhputovsky , fairy tales-stories about the daily life of peasants, satirical tales directed against the nobility and clergy predominate. On this basis, the Literary Encyclopedia concludes on the general evolution of the fairy-tale epic from fiction to realism [1] .

Legends of diverse character adjoin the fairy tale genre: from cosmogonic to philosophical, with moods ranging from dreamy-contemplative and expressing submission to destiny to rebellious and declaring social ideals. Remnants of epics , which themselves are almost not preserved in the Belarusian literature, are included in fairy tales in the form of martial arts [1] .

Belarusian fairy tales mostly tell about the eternal struggle between good and evil, about strong friendship, about love for their loved ones .
