"Princesses" ( German: Prinzessinnengruppe ) - the famous work of the sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadov . It depicts the future Prussian Queen Louise, along with her younger sister Frederica . First, Shadov, who worked at the Crown Prince’s Palace , made portrait busts of the beautiful sisters, in 1795-1797 a sculptural group was created in human height, first in plaster , and then in marble . The double sculptural portrait was recognized by experts and the public, but the wife of Louise Friedrich Wilhelm III did not like the sculpture and was forgotten for 90 years. Currently, along with another famous work by Shadov - a quadriga on the Brandenburg Gate - the sculpture “Princess” is considered a masterpiece of early Berlin classicism and is distributed in copies of various sizes and quality as an artwork, decorative object and Berlin souvenir. The marble original is in the Old National Gallery in Berlin.
