Release History

The issue of commemorative coins of the History of Russian Aviation series was launched on April 1, 2010 by the Bank of Russia. Two silver coins with a face value of 1 ruble each were issued. On May 3, 2011, the continuation of the series was issued into circulation - two silver coins with a face value of 1 ruble. These coins are dedicated to the history of the development of Russian aviation, namely the following famous aircraft: Russian Knight , Superjet-100 , Tu-144 , U-2 . On March 1, 2012, the I-16 and Il-76 coins were put into circulation. On March 1, 2013, the ANT-25 and TU-160 coins were put into circulation. On February 3, 2014, the Yak-3 and Be-200 coins were issued. It should also be noted that the theme of the series partially echoes with a number of coins dedicated to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .

 Russian Knight

The world's first four-engine aircraft, created in Russia in 1912-1913. His first flight was made in May 1913. On August 2, 1913 a world record of the flight duration of 1 hour 54 minutes was set on it.

 I-16
In the center of the disc in the bright field is a helical monoplane in flight with a right roll, the color of the disc segment above it smoothly changes from light to aquamarine, under the airplane in the aquamarine half-segment, in the light quadrangle there is a horizontal inscription: “I-16”, at the bottom along the edging there are inscriptions, on the left: “HISTORY”, below and on the right on the aquamarine section of the field: “RUSSIAN AVIATION”.

The I-16 fighter plane, created under the leadership of N. N. Polikarpov in 1934, was one of the fastest and most maneuverable fighters of its time. The aircraft was used in wars in Spain, on Khalkhin Gol and on the fronts of World War II.

 IL-76
In the center of the disk in the bright field is a flying four-engine jet plane, the color of the sector of the disk above it smoothly changes from light to blue, under the plane on the left on the blue triangle there is a horizontal inscription: “IL-76”, at the bottom on the strip located along the edge, the inscription - on its blue section on the left: “HISTORY”, on the light on the right: “RUSSIAN AVIATION”.

The medium military transport aircraft IL-76 was developed at the Design Bureau of S.V. Ilyushin . He became the first in the USSR aircraft of such a destination with a turbojet engine. The first flight on it was completed in 1971. In 1976, the IL-76 was adopted. Currently, it forms the basis of the fleet of military transport aviation in Russia and the CIS countries.
