Born October 1, 1959 in Moscow. Father - water polo player Boris Grishin , two-time Olympic medalist (1964 and 1968). Mother - rapier fencer Valentina Rastvorova , 1960 Olympic champion.

Graduated from GTsOLIFK (1983), trainer and teacher.

He played for the Dynamo team (Moscow) . He was a member of the USSR national team (1978-1988).
