The champion of two previous draws - American Serena Williams - defended her titles, but lost in the fourth round Marion Bartoli .

General Information

For the first time since 1913, all quarter-finalists represented European countries. ^[one]

For the first time since 1998, Czech won the Grand Slam series. The previous representative of this country to win such a competition was Jana Novotna , who also won Wimbledon that year.

For the first time since 2004, a tennis player opens an account for her titles at Grand Slam tournaments in Wimbledon . Then it was Russian Maria Sharapova .

For the first time since 2008, the winner of Wimbledon is not the winner of the Australian Open or Roland Garros of the same season.

For the fifth consecutive time, the tournament finals ended in two sets and for the second year in a row, the representative of Russia was the losing finalist.

Kvitova becomes the first champion of the adult Grand Slam tournament, born in 1990 or later.
