Josef Zut (in some sources Zuet , German Josef Zuth ; November 24, 1879 , Carlsbad - August 30, 1932 ) - Austrian guitarist , lute player , musicologist , teacher , lexicographer and journalist .

Biography
He studied musicology at the University of Vienna with Guido Adler and Adolf Kochirts [1] . In 1902 - 1925 he was in the public service [2] . Since 1919, he taught the lute and guitar at the Urania Higher National School in Vienna. In 1920, the dissertation of Simon Molitor and the Viennese Guitar School about 1800 was published in Vienna ( German: Simon Molitor and die Wiener Gitarristik (um 1800) ). In 1921 he became the editor of the musical magazine “Zeitschrift für Gitarre” (since 1927, it was called “Musik im Haus”) [2] . Since 1925, Associate Professor at the Pedagogical Institute in Vienna [3] . Printed in various periodicals.
Proceedings
Zut wrote a number of works on the history of performance and technique of playing the guitar, lute, mandolin and other plucked instruments [2] [3] . Among them:
