Story
The Great Patriotic War is nearing completion. The train intersects for several minutes the life paths of two very young Volodya and Vali , returning after evacuation to Leningrad. The plot takes them to their first chance encounter in the summer of 1941 at a crowded refugee station. The period of adolescents growing up, their entry into adulthood occurs during the difficult war years. During the bombing of the railway evacuation train near the Mga station near Vali and her younger sister, Lucy is killed by her mother. After long wanderings in orphanages, the girls find their own aunt, and they find shelter in her house.
The fate of Volodya Yakubovsky is difficult. The mother is divorced from his own father, whose wife and son Oleg , the half-brother of Volodya, have long been. In the evacuation, the mother tries to arrange her personal life and draws closer to the army captain. Not wanting to burden her, the teenager gets a job at a defense aircraft factory and moves to a hostel. There he finds a good friend - Romka . Upon learning of pregnancy, the captain throws Volodya's mother. The unfavorable reputation of the “affordable” woman who did not give birth to her husband and the lack of funds do not allow her to rent decent housing. The teenager is very upset by the failure of his mother in his personal life and leaves for Leningrad, asking his father to issue him a proper call to the city, from which the blockade was only recently lifted. Yakubovsky senior at first refuses help, referring to the adultery of his ex-wife, but mature Volodya firmly gets his way. Artistic Features and Reviews
The dramaturgy and direction of the picture is largely based on the successful experience of the film " Seryozha ". The style principles found by V. Panova together with G. Danelia and I. Talankin were developed and expanded. The picture is distinguished by the emotional richness of the narrative [4] . In the magazine " Soviet Screen " the film is called "the starting point in the cinematic biography of Nina Urgant" [5] :
| It was then that our first meeting took place with a simple Russian woman, very kind and not very happy in her kindness and concerns, sincere and generous, preserving the warm purity of her quiet fate. The screen, which has a steadfast gaze, allowed us to look into her eyes, to feel the charm of her smile. And the viewer did not see even the slightest falsity in them. |
