Residents of the canton steadily sympathize with the "left." In the 2012 presidential election, they cast 29.9% of the vote in the 1st round to Francois Hollande versus 26.4% for Marin Le Pen and 18.3% for Nicolas Sarkozy ; Holland won in the 2nd round in the canton, receiving 59 , 9% of the vote (2007 1st round: Segolen Royal - 25.9%, Sarkozy - 24.1%; 2nd round: Royal - 53.9%).
