The Surma River begins in eastern Bangladesh, where on the Indian-Bangladeshi border, the Barak River is divided into two branches: the southern - Kushiyara , and the northern - Surma. From there, it flows through the Sylhet depression, where tributaries from the north flow into it, from Meghalaya hills. After merging with the Someshwari River, Surma is also known as Baulai . A sleeve extends from Surma to the south, which merges with Kushiyara. When Surma and Kushiyara finally merge again above the city of Bhairab Bazar in the Kishorganj district , the Meghna River forms.
