Biography
Ilya Moiseevich Smolyar was born in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute in 1952. In 1952-1955 he worked in Giprotatneft , in Kazan . Since 1955, in Moscow , at the Central Research Institute of Urban Planning , he created a modern scientific school for the planning of new cities. Since 1983 he worked at the Moscow Architectural Institute, Head of the Department of Theory of Urban Planning. In 1983-1985 - one of the leaders and developers of the Comprehensive program of scientific and technological progress in urban development. The author of monographs on urban development. Doctor of Architecture (1977), Academician of RAASN (1993).
