Barbash, Gabriel

Gabi (Yitzhak Gabriel) Barbash ( Hebrew גבי (יצחק גבריאל) ברבש; born September 13, 1949 ) - Israeli professor, director general of the Medical Center (Ihilov Hospital), formerly director general of the Ministry of Health Of Israel .

Biography

Born in Tel Aviv . After leaving school in 1969, he continued his studies in the framework of the IDF academic reserve program at the Department of Medicine of Jerusalem State University .

He completed an internship at the Surasky Medical Center (1980-1984), at the Cardiology Department of Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, USA (1985-1986). He continued his studies at Harvard University , specializing in public medicine.

In 1993, after managerial positions at the H. Sheba Hospital , he was appointed to the position of Director General of the Surasky Medical Center. During his work, he significantly increased the number of doctors' rates, lured specialists from other medical institutions, and increased the room for emergency rooms.

In 1996, he was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Health. In 1999, he resigned and returned to the post of Director General of the center. Sourasky. Since 2001, he is a full-time professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.

From 1998 to 2000 served as chairman of the National Israel Transplant Center.

Personal life

Married, has three children. He lives in Jerusalem .
