Baykot people

Baykotovtsy ( Khak. “ Paygudug ”) - seok in the composition of the Khakassian sub-ethnic group of coibals .

They lived in the valley. Tuba By the beginning of the 19th century, the Bolshebaykotov family moved to the right bank of the Abakan River , to the Koibal steppe . The consonance of the ethnonyms Baykotovtsy (“Paygudug”) and Kottovtsy (“Khogyg”) of Keetho-speaking Yarinskaya and Kansky landlings is an argument in favor of their Kets origin. Apparently, in this name the formant “arcs, dyg” goes back to the Ket “deng” - people. A small part of the Kotovs moved behind the Sayans to Todja and made a sekhodig among the Tuvans . The “Kydyk” division of the Tien Shan Kirghiz of the “Bugu” tribe has identical sound. Probably, the Turkization of the Baikot people happened long ago, since already in the 17th century they were called Russians no other than “Baykoto.D0.9B.D1.8E.D0.B4.D0.B8.2C_.D1.81.D0.B2.D1.8F.D0.B7.D0.B0.D0.BD.D0.BD.D1.8B.D0.B5_.D1.81_.D0.9E.D1.80.D0.B4.D0.B0.D1.82.D1.8C.D1.8E>People associated with the Order
