London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange ( LIFFE ) is a futures exchange founded in 1982 . It is the most important London market for futures and stock options .

Operations with a wide range of stock derivatives have been carried out on LIFFE only recently. Until April 1992, trading on these products was held in the operating room of the London Stock Exchange in the London market for freely traded options (LTOM). In 1992, LIFFE merged with LTOM, and now all tenders are held in the operating room at Cannon Bridge .

LIFFE members are a large number of banks and firms specializing in securities trading . Most LIFFE members trade in products related to credit instruments and bonds . Some members of the exchange have been awarded the right to trade derivatives on shares.

In January 2002, it became part of Euronext (essentially Euronext absorbed LIFFE) and became known as Euronext.liffe .

In April 2007, Euronext merged with the New York Stock Exchange . As a result of this merger, which took place on April 4, 2007 ^[1] , NYSE Euronext was formed.

In November 2013, IntercontinentalExchange received permission from regulatory authorities to acquire the NYSE Euronext, an agreement was reached a year earlier ^[2] .

In 2014, IntercontinentalExchange separated Euronext (without LIFFE) into a separate company and in June held its IPO , selling 60% of the shares. LIFFE is one of the exchanges controlled by IntercontinentalExchange.
