Praskovya Petrovna Chernikova was one of the very first professional artists of Russia. Very little is known about her life and creative fate, even the exact date or place of her birth is unknown.
From May 1, 1777 until 1826 she performed as part of the Russian Court Troupe in St. Petersburg ( K. Knipper Free Theater ), where she played the roles of confidante and old comics in operas, comedies and tragedies.
