"Kolyumny" [1] (usually Pillars Gyadiminovich ) is a pre-heraldic and heraldic sign of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . Most often considered as the coat of arms of the Gediminids .
According to legend, the creation of which dates back to the sixteenth century, the coat of arms was brought with him by Palemon from Rome , and afterwards his descendants - Palemonovichi used it [2] .
The first images of "Kolyumn" are found on coins after 1386 [2] .
According to Jan Dlugosh , in the Battle of Grunwald of 1410, out of 40 Lithuanian banners, 10 were with the image “Kolyumn” (while Dlugosh himself does not call them that, but gives a schematic image). It is believed that these 10 banners were grand-ducal, that is, directly subordinate to Vitovt . According to him, the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitovt branded his horses with this sign [2] .
Due to the high similarity with the generic signs of the Rurikovich , “Kolyumna” is sometimes produced from these signs [2] .
