Story

It all starts with the news story that five criminal gangs are terrorizing the fictional city of Capital City. Criminals far outnumber ordinary patrols in numbers and weapons, as a result of which the head of the main police department of the city decides to organize a special detachment to fight crime. It included Officer Tex (the main character and the only game character), specially trained in shooting, driving and acrobatic stunts, and Sarah Hunter, who received a combat helicopter at the beginning. In the opening video, you can hear the reporter's voice coming from the speakers: “And what should we call this new squad?”, To which the boss replies: “The Pursuit Force!”

Gameplay

The game consists of thirty missions, and five episodes in the form of criminal gangs: Capelli family, Warlords, Convicts, Vixens and Killer 66. Each episode contains six missions, each third is marked by the boss at the end. In the course of completing tasks, the player will be promoted and, by the end of the game, will have a commander badge.

The gameplay is divided into several components, mainly from which chases with shootouts stand out . The key, one might say, element of gameplay is jumping from one vehicle to another. You can make a jump not only on the enemy’s car or motorcycle, it’s allowed to capture any passing vehicles. However, in some missions there is no way to leave the car in order to provide him with protection, or, on the contrary, it is forbidden to destroy enemy cars and, therefore, the player must capture them.

Also, in addition to driving, there are two more gameplay areas. One of them allows the player to fire from a light machine gun mounted on a police helicopter, and the other is a third-person shooter where the player can kill opponents or arrest them. Such moments are much less common than, directly, chases. The player cannot independently change the direction of the gameplay, for example, get out of the car onto the track, as in GTA . There is also no open world in the game, all chases are carried out along a given route, the alleged forks are fenced with transparent yellow walls "in the arrow" (as, for example, in the Need for Speed series of games), and only infrequently encountered bugs can give an opportunity to go beyond the track.

Another feature of the gameplay is the so-called justice indicator. For each murder, destruction of enemy vehicles or its capture, the player receives points of justice. When the justice indicator is full, the player does more damage, then jumps and can kill enemies while jumping in slow mo . Shooting on civil or allied vehicles, as well as a clash with civilians, reduces the balance of the justice indicator. Also, the player himself can empty the indicator to replenish his health reserve and increase the strength of the controlled transport.

All of the above is a career mode. In addition to him, the player can choose a race with gangs, in which he himself is a criminal and the need for a race is determined by a specific task, for example, to break away from the police or warn his boss about the attack of another gang. There is also a time trial mode, where the player himself chooses the track and transport, which can be opened in career mode.

Additional features

It is worth noting that for each mission you are given a mark, depending on how many opponents you destroyed and whether you caused civilian damage or not. The higher the score, the more chances to get a bonus in the form of a cheat code , or image.

Criticism

The game was quite warmly received by both players and gaming publications. Positive feedback came down to the fact that the game has nice graphics and excellent gameplay. The game was scolded for overly overpriced complexity and lack of multiplayer mode.
