Matses ( majoruna ) - Native American language, refers to the panoan branch of the pan-Takan family. The carriers are about 2,200 representatives of the Matses people living in the Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon. Of these: 1,400 people live in Peru , the Loreto region, the province of Requena , and the district of Yakerana (near the lower tributaries of the Yakerana river; lower Javari; near the Chobayaku and Galves rivers). About 800 people also live in Brazil , Amazonas (Maioruna reservation on the Solimines river; Lameiran, Vali do Javari reservations in the Javari river basin).

Distributed among all age groups, studied in schools. The literacy level of those who speak the language is very low. In Brazil, some speakers also speak Portuguese. It has an agglutinative basis, is highly synthetic. The characteristic word order is SOV.
