Chinese pika [1] ( lat. Ochotona erythrotis ) is a species of pika living in the highlands of the Chinese provinces of Gansu , Qinghai , Sichuan , Xinjiang and Yunnan [2] .

The body length is from 18.1 to 28.5 cm. Summer fur is light, red-brown in color, in some individuals the chest is gray-red-brown. The chest is also red-brown, the belly is white. In winter, the fur color on the back and belly is dark or pale gray, while the ears retain their red-brown color. The structure of the skull differs from related species Ochotona rutila and Ochotona gloveri [3] .
Lifestyle
The species inhabits alpine meadows on mountain slopes at an altitude of 2000 to 4000 m above sea level [3] [2] . Leads a daily lifestyle. Digs holes 1-2 m long [2] [3] .
The breeding season lasts from May to August. The female brings offspring twice a year, in one litter from three to seven cubs [2] .
