Kargovino is a village in the Vinogradovsky district of the Arkhangelsk region of Russia. It is part of the Morzhegorsky rural settlement .

Geography

Kargovino stands on the right bank of the Northern Dvina River , west of the village of Repanovo . Opposite it, on the left bank of the Northern Dvina, is the village of Rodionovskaya , downstream of the Dvina is the ancient village of Kagli (Kalei) .

History

The settlement arose in the 30s of the XX century . There were many exiled Poles [1] . For a long time in Kargovino there was a span. In the village there is a group of amateur performances. Women performing in the choir in the Vinogradovsky region are called French women , and Kargovino itself is called France [2] [3] . Since 2006, Kargovino has been part of the Morzhegorskoye municipal organization.

Demographics

The population of the village, according to the 2010 All-Russian Population Census , was 56 people [4] . In 2009, there were 85 people, including 37 pensioners [5] [6] .

Etymology

The settlement got its name from Kargovinsky roll and Kargovinsky meadow. Lopar (Sami) “cargo” means “a hill in the middle of a swamp”, and “cargo” in Veps language means a bear. In the North Russian dialects, “cargo” means “crow”, and “cargo” means “swamp”.
