Geography
The ulus is located 67 km east of the district center, the village of Kizhinga , on the Kizhinga-Hurtei local highway, on the right bank of the Chesan River (the right tributary of the Khudan River ), at the confluence of the Khurety River into it.
The nearest settlements: Bulak (12 km to the west), Chesan (16 km to the west), Hurtei (9 km to the southeast), Kulkison (26 km to the east).
History
The village was founded in the second half of the 19th century, after the Tsagan earthquake of 1862 on Lake Baikal, when a part of the Baikal (Kadarin) Buryats moved to the valley of the Chesan River.
