Biography
After graduating from Kharkov University in 1934, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Voronezh (from 1938 - associate professor).
Since 1944 , teaching work at the Lviv University. I. Franco .
For 12 years, from 1951 to 1963 - was elected its rector .
In 1942 - 1979 he worked at the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the CCCP and the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR .
From 1969 to 1971 - Director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.
In 1970-1979, he was president of the Ukrainian Mineralogical Society, and from 1971 to 1979, vice president of the All-Union Mineralogical Society of the CCCP Academy of Sciences.
Under the direction of E.K. Lazarenko, regional mineralogical studies of the most important geological objects were carried out, and their results were summarized in fundamental monographic works on the mineralogy of the erupted complexes of Western Volhynia , sedimentary formations of the Carpathian , Transcarpathian , Podillia , chamber pegmatites of Volyn, Donetsk and Krivorozhsky basins, Priazovye . The well-known Russian mineralogical crystallographer, Professor I.I. Shafranovsky, rightly put the name of E.K. Lazarenko on a par with the names of such prominent luminaries of mineralogical science of the 20th century as V.I. Vernadsky , A.E. Fersman , N.V. Belov .
EK Lazarenko was offered a genetic classification of minerals, he discovered a new mineral - tarasovit .

Memory
- In honor of his achievements, the mineral Lazarenkoite was named.
- Ukrainian Mineralogical Society in 2002 established a prize named after Academician Evgeniy Lazarenko in the field of mineralogy for young scientists and students of higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
- The name “Academician Eugene Lazarenko” refers to the beryl mineral found in the Volyn deposit with a mass of 4.879 kg.
- On the building of Lviv University and at home in Kiev, where E.K. Lazarenko worked and lived, memorial plaques are installed.
- on the grave of academician Yevgeny Lazarenko at the Baykovsky cemetery in Kiev installed his bust
