Biography

Producer, director, screenwriter, actor, composer was born in Auckland, New Zealand on December 1, 1966 into a family of Christian missionaries.

At the age of 11, he moved with his parents to Papua New Guinea , from where he returned to Auckland at the age of eighteen. At 24, he moved to San Francisco , from where he often visited Los Angeles .

As a child, he dreamed of becoming an architect, but he had delayed his registration with the university due to a car accident. Soon he moved to California , where in one of the departments of the company “Pacific Data Images”, as a technical director, he took part in the creation of the paintings “Toys” (1992) with Robin Williams and “Angels at the Edge of the Field” (1994) with Danny Glover .

He made his debut as a director in 2001 with the full-length cartoon “ Shrek ”, which collected a little less than half a billion dollars at the box office and took the Oscar in the nomination “Best full-length cartoon”. Even more successful was the second part of the cartoon " Shrek 2 " ( 2004 ), which brought together a little less than a billion.

The next movie was a fantasy film for family viewing “ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ” ( 2005 ). Box office high-budget ($ 180 million) paintings amounted to more than $ 750 million. The slightly less successful continuation of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was released in 2008 .
