Diocese of Oita ( Latin: Dioecesis Oitaensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its center in Oita , Japan . The Diocese of Oita is included in the Metropolitanate of Nagasaki . The cathedral of the Diocese of Oita is the church of St. Francis Xavier .

History
On March 27, 1928, Pope Pius XI issued the Supremi apostolatus log , which established the Sui iuris Miyazaki mission, separating it from the Diocese of Fukuoka .
On January 28, 1935, Pope Pius XI issued the bull "Ad potioris dignitatis" , which transformed the mission of sui uiris Mizayaki into an apostolic prefecture . DJ during the Second World War, the apostolic administrator of the prefecture was the priest Francis Xavier Ititaro Ideaguchi.
On December 22, 1961, Pope John XXIII issued the bull "Quae universo" , which transformed the apostolic prefecture of Mizayaki into the diocese of Oita.
