The population is 1497 [1] people. (2010). According to statistics as of January 1, 2016 of permanent residents in the village of 1329.
Content
Geography
The village is located 11 km from the center of Kirzhach on the banks of the Sherny River. There are 12 streets and a microdistrict in the village.
History
In 1938, a research expedition discovered peat deposits measuring more than 600 hectares near the village of Gribanovo. A year later, in connection with peat mining, the village of Pershino appeared in these places. The school in Pershino appeared in 1952 and was rebuilt in 1992. To transport peat from the village in 1942, a narrow gauge railway Kirzhach - Pershino was built.
The name of the settlement came from the river Pershi, which, when draining the marshes for peat mining, went underground.

Economics
In Pershin, there are the Pershin branch of OJSC NPO Nauka, the official representative office of the ZOV group of companies in Russia LLC Mercato. Near the village are peat deposits [3] . In April 2010, the village was gasified [4] .

The climate is temperate continental. The average July temperature is +18.2 degrees Celsius, January –10.6 degrees, the average annual rainfall is 580 mm.
The average annual temperature is plus 3.5 degrees Celsius, the absolute minimum is minus 46 degrees, the absolute maximum is plus 37 degrees. The coldest month is January. The warmest month is July.
Infrastructure
In Pershin there are kindergarten No. 19, a secondary school, a children's art school, a medical dispensary, a culture center, and a library. There is also a housing and communal services, post office number 601023, savings banks.
At the beginning of April 2015, a positive conclusion was received from the expertise on gasification of the village. The project was developed and implemented by ZemKom M5.
