The river Trestyanka takes its source in the north of the Novgorod region from a small lake Netorechye , flows to the east. After Lake Stekhovo is called Deficiency. In the lower reaches, it turns north and flows into Smerdomka , 43 km from its mouth, near the village of Zhilyoy Bor, Ostakhnovsky rural settlement, Khvoininsky district.
The length of the river is 25 km, the catchment area is 97.1 km² [2] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Upper Volga Basin District , the water sector of the river is Mologa from the source to the mouth, the river sub-basin is the River of the Rybinsk Reservoir Basin.
