The source of the river in the Insarsky district of Mordovia is near the border with the Penza region near the village of Shadymo-Ryskino , 25 km southeast of the city of Insar . The river flows north, the upper stream lies in the Insarsky region of Mordovia, the lower one - in the Issinsky district of the Penza region. The village of Shadymo-Ryskino flows, flows into Issa near the village of Novotrekhsvyatskoye.
