Geography

The length of the river is 42 km, the catchment area is 602 km² [2] .

Shiray begins in the beam Shiryay east of the city of Frolovo and south of the village of Samples . Flows to the south-west, in the farm Pisaryovka turns to the south-east. Above Pisaryovka, as well as in Pisaryovka itself, the river is blocked . Then it flows through the settlements of Nizhny Lipki , Shiryaevsky and Zheltukhino-Shiryaisky . It falls into Ilovlya 59 km from the mouth of the latter. The mouth of the river is located at an altitude of 46.6 meters above sea level [3] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Don basin district , the water management section of the river is Ilovlya , the river sub-basin of the river Don between the Khopra and the Seversky Donets river. The river basin is the Don (the Russian part of the basin) [2] .
