Russian Reserve is a poor village in the Russian outback, the village of Zharki, Yuryevets district, Ivanovo region . Thanks to the efforts of the rural priest Viktor Saltykov, the village did not die, like many others like her, but exists to this day, despite the almost complete isolation from modern civilization. The villagers did not lose hope - they are hardworking, friendly, able to rejoice and love. In modern language, Zharki is an ideal eco-settlement built on ideological foundations, which its organizers associate with old traditions and Orthodox Christianity.
There is no voice-over narration in the film; the whole narrative is based on short stories on a “live” shoot with comments by Archpriest Victor Saltykov. Pictures of rural life and blossoming nature, in harmony and balance with human life, eloquently confirm Father Victor’s words that Russia and the Earth can be saved only when a person wants to save himself - he will leave the race for material wealth and passions, instead of thinking about your soul.
Work on the film was conducted over 5 years. The shooting was supported by the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography .
