Biography
The son of a complete general for the Admiralty, Pavel Alekseevich Zeleny (1833-1909) . He graduated from the Marine Corps in 1892 [1] and the Mine Officer Class in 1901. From 1908 to 1910 he commanded the destroyers “Combat” and “Volunteer”, after which he was appointed to the post of naval agent in Great Britain with the rank of captain of the 1st rank. In 1912 he was commander of the battleship " Andrew the First-Called ." With the outbreak of World War I, he held various headquarters positions in the Baltic Fleet. September 12, 1917 promoted to rear admiral.
In December 1917, he was a member of the Russian Armistice Commission, chief of the Baltic Sea Mine Defense [1] .
Since 1918 - in the Soviet fleet. An active participant in the preparation and conduct of the Ice Fleet of the Baltic Fleet in 1918, then commanded training units [1] .
In 1919-1920 he commanded the naval forces of the Baltic Sea .
During the defense of Petrograd, he led several naval operations against the British and Estonian naval forces.
Since 1920, he was an expert on maritime issues of the Revolutionary Military Council and authorized by the maritime department at the Soviet mission in Finland [1] .
He died on September 4, 1922, was buried in the Cossack cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra .
