Spore

Spore is a god-simulator computer game developed by Maxis studio and published by Electronic Arts . It covers many genres, such as role-playing and real-time strategy . In this game, the player controls the development of the creature at will, making changes, thereby improving its characteristics. The game consists of five stages of development, starting with the microorganism and ending with a highly developed civilization. Players can create their content and upload to Sporopedia, where creatures are rated by the community.

Sales in the first two weeks after the release exceeded one million copies [1] .

Gameplay

The game is an evolution simulator. The player is given the opportunity to choose the size and appearance of his being, and what path it will follow.

The game is divided into several stages. At the end of one stage, the result of its actions is read and a special bonus is given, based on the actions of your being, which will affect subsequent stages. As you progress through the stages, your being physically changes [2] .

In the beginning, the player chooses a planet (there is always a choice of 7 (or 6 if there is already a game on another planet) of free planets) on which his creatures will live. The initial stage of the game is selected. At first, you can only select "Cell", and as you progress through the remaining stages will be available for selection. Using console commands you can open ALL levels at the beginning of the game.

Molecule

Removed stage. This stage was supposed to be a game in the form of Tetris ' a, where the player was supposed to collect molecules. This stage was removed for unknown reasons.

Cage

Under the control of the player gets a microorganism living in the primary broth. In order to survive, a microorganism or a cell needs to eat pieces of meat or algae, and also try with all its might to avoid the fate of being eaten by other carnivorous or omnivorous cells. With eating food, the cell gets the so-called " DNA glasses", which serve as "currency" in the creature's editor. Also in the water you can find fragments of creatures, hunting creatures or found in pieces of asteroids.

Stage Cage

To open the editor, you need to use the "marriage call" and swim up to your partner (the direction to it will be shown as a kind of "sound waves" and pink hearts), then the egg rolls off and the cell editor opens. In the editor, for DNA points, new parts of the body are bought, it is also possible to sell parts of the body and change the shape and size of the body and location on the body of its individual parts, change the color, however, you cannot change the length of the body and body parts (without special modifications). After the editor is closed and the changes are saved, the developed organism hatches with all the changes made. If you are killed, the cell will also hatch from the egg, but not changed. At this stage, the type of development of creatures at the next stages is laid down - development options for a predatory, herbivore or omnivorous creature are possible. If algae are eaten much more than meat, then at the creature stage only herbivorous mouths will be available; if there is more meat, then carnivorous, if approximately equal, then omnivorous. However, you can leave the cellular herbivore or carnivorous mouth and eat the appropriate food, that is, if the creature is herbivorous, and your creature has a carnivorous mouth, then the creature can calmly absorb meat. It is also possible to kill the cage with a proboscis (omnivorous mouth) and use it, or put two different mouths at once.

Fish

Removed stage. This stage had to go between the stages of the cell and the creature. This stage was to be of itself: The stage of the creature where the player was to go through the stage under a layer of water. This stage was removed for simple reasons: because of the improper code of the game, that the player constantly had wild mistakes and crashes, and this stage was no different from the Creature stage, and only stretched game time. There was also her creation editor and fragments. But despite its removal, one fan still made a mod, a pseudo-version of the stage.

Creature

As a result of evolution, the cell will have a small brain, and it will be able to reach the land. The editor will open, and you will be prompted to add a foot to the creature, but this is not necessary. In this case, the creature will crawl like a huge worm. After that, the former cage and several of its relatives will swim out onto dry land and build a nest. In addition to you on land, there are also other species, and usually, the farther they are from your first nest, the more developed they are. They must either be met, or destroyed, receiving DNA points and new fragments. Also, new fragments can be obtained from special skeletons. The larger the skeleton, the better the fragment. A larger number of skeletons or larger skeletons are usually located near the nests of very developed and, as a rule, aggressive creatures or near the "places of appearance" of monsters. Depending on the behavior in the previous step, essentially either herbivores or other types of mouths will be available. Also at the very beginning, starting fragments will be available to you, depending on whether you were carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores. Unlike the “Cell” stage, food does not give DNA points (without special modifications), but only restores health and satiety. When DNA accumulates, the development indicator fills up, and when it reaches control points, the creature's brain increases, as a result of which it becomes smarter and can take in its flock more creatures, a maximum of three creatures.

Tribe

Under your leadership will be the tribe. You will again open the creature editor. It's time to think about the final design of the creatures - you will not be able to change them in the future (unless, of course, you are not downloading a modification), just to change clothes and repaint. In the future, your weapons will be: spears, axes and torches, which depends on what kind of mouth you have (even if your creature is herbivorous and you have not removed a carnivorous mouth and have also attached a herbivore mouth, then the weapon will be like an omnivore). Gameplay changes dramatically - we have a strategy. Clothing is important now - it affects the characteristics. Details, however, also: the wings allow you to fly, legs affect the speed of movement, combat elements allow you to fight as in the "Creature" stage. Clothing is bought for special points, they are added only for the destruction or conclusion of an alliance with another tribe. There is also another resource - food, it is spent on feeding creatures, building houses, presenting gifts to neighbors, taming other, less developed creatures (who are at the “Creature” stage, a subordinate creature will continue to bring food, you can tame a maximum of 3 pets) and the birth of young. Food can be obtained in different ways: you can make friends with a tribe, and then it will periodically present you with food as gifts; you can tame creatures that will lay eggs (as mentioned earlier); You can collect food from trees, fish and algae, hunt creatures and steal food from enemy tribes. From different buildings, creatures can take different items that help in battle, in concluding an alliance or in getting food. For example, pipes and pipes will help you to make friends with other tribes, prison posts make it possible to get more fish in lakes, seas or oceans, axes help in hunting and in battle with other tribes. To move to the next stage, you need to destroy or join five neighboring tribes.

City

Removed stage. This stage was supposed to be a mini-game like SimCity, where you would be allowed to be that kind of builder of the Cities . Removed this stage for unknown reasons.

Civilization

Depending on the behavior at the previous stage, you will become a military (aggression), or a commercial (hardworking), or a religious (friendliness) civilization. Only instead of the village you will manage the state. Your weapons: tanks, airplanes and ships. As in the tribe, at first your city is the only one on the map, but then new ones appear. They need to capture. This can be done either by capturing them by force, by converting them to your faith, or by purchasing them, or by using super powers in the lower screen. Money is earned through the extraction of spices and plants. When you capture 4 cities, you can invent a plane. Tanks and ships are available from the beginning of the game. Also, you can simultaneously manage cities with different specializations - military, commercial or religious (when you capture a new city, you are offered to change the specialization to yours or leave the specialization of the captured city). When your civilization becomes the only one on the planet, you will create a spaceship.

Space

Creatures are building a spacecraft, which after launch is at the disposal of the player. On this spacecraft, the player explores the galaxy, builds and develops its colonies, performs tasks (including adventures) of other races. As in the previous stages, aggressive, peaceful and economic methods of action are possible here. Depending on the results of the previous stages, the player will receive various bonuses, and one special superpower. In Space Adventures, if you collect a strip of equipment of a particular philosophy, it will be available to the player regardless of his philosophy (all superpowers correspond to the forces from the original game). Also on your spaceship you can fly to the center of the galaxy (for this you need to have an engine at least second level). The center of the galaxy is defended by Grox, so it will be difficult for inexperienced players to get there. Also, when approaching the center will fly more difficult. The stage is endless.

Sporopedia

File: Spore timeline.jpg
Sporopedia in the English version of the game

Sporopedia is an in-game encyclopedia that accumulates information during the game. For example, if you see a different look at the “being” stage, you can read about it at any time, even if you destroy it.

Editors

The game has six main editors, which are used to create any game units. There are also some other editors cut out, for example, the edited editor is the editor of the planets. It can be obtained by installing an English-language modification and going out into the open sea at the stage of being.

Cell editor

Editor available in the “Cell” stage. Allows you to change the cell fragments. In the editor there are 3 types of mouth, 3 types of weapons, 3 types of movement details and 3 eyes. You can repaint your cell. There is also a hidden cell editor.

Creature Editor

The editor available in the “Creature” stage. It has a lot more fragments and coloring options. You can add arms, legs and change the position and length of the spine. There are so many modifications that supplement the creature editor. It is impossible to save a creature without a mouth (without special modifications). You can do anything with it.

Gear Editor

The editor, available in the “Tribe”, “Civilization” and “Cosmos” stages, allows you to put equipment on any creature. You can attach shoulder pads, breastplates, caps and more. If you have the addition " Cosmic Adventures ", then you can add other equipment: either diplomatic or, on the contrary, military.

Construction Editor

The editor is available in the last two steps. There are a variety of buildings: town halls , factories , houses and entertainment centers. Windows, doors and various decorations can be attached to the buildings. Buildings can also be painted.

Technology Editor

Here you can make the most different techniques: cars, ships, airplanes and spaceships. You can install wheels, fenders, sails and space engines. There are four types: commercial, military, religious and colonial. You can make a unique technique, which you can then paint.

Flora editor

Hidden editor that allows you to create plants for the game. Instructions for launching the flora editor: find the SporeApp.exe file in the game folder, then open Shortcut Properties, and type -state: FloraEditor. It should look like this: “E: \ Games \ EA GAMES \ SPORE \ Sporebin \ SporeApp.exe” -state: FloraEditor. The editor does not work well, so many elements simply will not be visible. By the way, in My Creations in Spore there is a mark of plants, which confirms the existence of this editor

Planet Editor

Cut editor that can be opened by installing the modification and throwing it into the game folder. Next you need to swim in the open sea at the stage of being to where you should be eaten by a water monster. If the modification is working and you did everything correctly, then the editor of your planet will appear, which you can change and add game objects in every possible way. However, it is very difficult to find this modification.

Cake Editor

The game really has a code for the editor of the cake. Most likely it was a comic reference to Portal which no one should ever find. By the way, it was found by the same Man who found the carved achievements from the game, and the tribal signs.

Cards

In the course of the game, for each completed stage, the player receives a card: red, blue or green, depending on the behavior of the creature at each stage - at the first stage carnivorous, omnivorous and herbivorous, respectively, on the next two - aggressive, neutral and friendly, respectively at the fourth stage - military, commercial and religious, respectively, at the fifth - all cards are summed up and as a result a certain philosophy is obtained. Each card gives certain bonuses to the next stages of the game.

The table contains bonuses of cards that go to the space stage:

Races

Groksy

The most brutal creatures in the entire game galaxy. They live near the center of the galaxy and occupy a huge cosmic territory around it. Partially block the spiral arms of the galaxy. They have the most powerful weapons in the game and the largest number of colonized stellar systems (~ 2400). All other races are hostile to them.

Relationships with the Groxes (At first, the relationship will be negative). No galactic race encourages friendship with the Grox, and therefore the Grox friend is their enemy. Initially, the attitude of the Groxes to the player is negative, but it can be improved by some standard methods (except terraforming) and violation of the Galactic Code near their colonies since they already did it themselves. Until an alliance is made with this race, their ships will not allow them to reach the center of the Galaxy without loss. Groksy do not share their philosophy under any circumstances and, as a rule, do not allow trade (spices, equipment) with other empires. All weapons and terraforming tools are suitable for the destruction of the Groxes to enhance the terra-index on the planets they colonize. You can make an alliance with Grokks, becoming like them — hostile with all, being aggressive. If your level of influence on them reaches a high diplomatic level, then all races will declare war on you, but there is a good side:

  1. You can fly freely to the center of the galaxy;
  2. Achievement "Playing with fire."

Also, Groksov can be destroyed, while receiving the award "Eradication of Evil". The most effective in the war with Grokksy will be terraforming and using the Gigadetonator. Another weapon to destroy them is almost impossible, since they will create more and more new colonies.

Aliens

Probably representatives of different cosmic races. Appear in the "Creature", "Tribe" and "Civilization" stages. They fly along random paths, rather slowly, following the Player. At the “Creature” stage, other creatures are abducted with the help of a gravure beam, and at the “Tribe” stage, your pet or you can be kidnapped (game bug). Aliens arrive on random ships from Sporopedia (including player ships).

Pirates

The gangster organization, which annoys you and your allied empires at the stage of "Cosmos", attacking the colonies and stealing the resources obtained. They can also arrange ambushes on planets, imitating signals indicating the presence of an artifact.

It is also worth noting that if you destroy the last colony of a hostile empire, then its remaining ships will immediately become pirates and fly away.

Maasari

The Maasari are the most ancient race in Spore. In Spore: Galactic Adventures is his statue. Some players think his mouth is Polnozob. Most likely, the Maasari became extinct from their own creation (Groksy), the Tablet of Life VII mentions us in fat: “The Groxes completely destroyed several civilizations”. Most likely, Steve is the Maasari because the Maasari are partially connected with the Center of the galaxy. Most likely in the adventure “City of Adventures” where it was told that Steve was selling land, Steve did not sell them, but on the contrary was purchased by them to populate Groks there and used them for his defense.

Additions

Space Adventures (Galactic Adventures)

This addition allows the captain of your ship to become a real hero. By asking other empires for missions for you, you can get a mission to land on a special adventure planet. Adventure is a game mode when your captain lands on a planet created by one of the players and performs special tasks for a specific scenario. The task may be, for example, such: kill five monsters or find a sword. Also with the addition, you get an adventure editor in which you can create your own unique planet, populate it with residents and give tasks that other captains run by other players will perform, and access to the editor equipment of the captains with the new 32 tools, and they are divided into groups 4 elements for each of the 8 philosophies (warrior, shaman, scientist, ecologist, diplomat, bard, trader, fanatic).

Creepy & Cute (Creepy & Cute)

October 14, 2008 Electronic Arts announced the release of a set of elements for the Spore - Spore: Creepy and Cute ( Spore: Creepy & Cute. Parts Pack ). Supplement will add about 100 new parts to create creatures, animations and color options. All of them will be in two styles: cute, cartoon creatures, as well as monstrous monsters. New parts can be used starting from the “Creature” stage, and created creatures can be loaded into Sporopedia and shown to players who have also installed the “Creepy and Cute” elements. The set was released on November 21, 2008.
