History

Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Lovtsy

The villages of Lukhovitsky district, located on the left bank of the Oka , are distinguished by the specifics of their historical development. These include Lovek Borki , Lovtsy, Ljubichi and Dedinovo . Their advantageous location on an important water trade route predetermined the non-agricultural character of occupations by residents. From the old days these settlements were the palace villages of the Moscow grand dukes and were obliged to supply fish to the capital [2] [3] .

In 1994–2006, Lovtsy was the center of the Lovetsky rural district .
