The Taras Shevchenko Film Theater is the first multi-screen cinema in the Ukrainian SSR , [1] . Located in Donetsk . An architectural monument of local importance [1] [2] . Included in the architectural ensemble of Theater Square .
The cinema building was built from 1937 to 1939 according to the project of architect L. Teplitsky. The main facade of the building is decorated with an arched loggia two floors high. In 1968, the cinema was reconstructed by the architect Alvian Platonovich Strashnov . Before the reconstruction, it had three halls for 1400 spectators.
In the lobby there is a monument to Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko, in the form of a reclining resting figure [3] .
