The Archdiocese of Portland ( Latin: Archidioecesis Portlandensis in Oregon ) is the archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Portland , Oregon , USA . The Metropolitanate of Portland includes the dioceses of Baker , Boise , Great Falls-Billings , Helena . The Cathedral of the Portland Archdiocese is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary .

History
On December 1, 1843, Pope Gregory XVI issued the Pastorale officium log , which established the Apostolic Vicariate of Oregon, separating it from the diocese of St. Louis and the archdiocese of Quebec .
On July 24, 1846, the Apostolic Vicariate of Oregon Territory transferred part of its territory to the Diocese of Walla Walla (abolished in 1853) and the Diocese of Vancouver Island (today the Diocese of Victoria ). On the same day, the Oregon Apostolic Vicariate was transformed into the Oregon City Diocese.
On July 29, 1850, the Oregon City Diocese was elevated to the rank of archdiocese.
On March 3, 1868 and June 9, 1903, the Oregon City Archdiocese transferred part of its territory to the Apostolic Vicariate of Idaho and Montana (today the Diocese of Boise ) and the Diocese of Baker .
On September 26, 1928, Pope Pius XI issued the Bull Ecclesiarum omnium , which he renamed the Oregon City Archdiocese into the Portland Archdiocese.
