The flag was approved by Decree [2] of the Mayor of Moscow dated 03.04.2002 N 17-UM [3] and entered in the Heraldic Register of the City of Moscow with the assignment of a registration number?.
Description
“The flag of the Western administrative district is a rectangular cloth of blue color with a ratio of width to length as 2: 3.
In the center of the banner is a white triumphal arch with black ornaments, the overall dimensions of which are 3/4 of the length and 7/15 of the width of the flag’s banner. ”
Justification of Symbols
The white triumphal arch symbolizes the victories of Russian weapons in the Patriotic Wars of 1812 and 1941-1945, to which the Borodino panorama and the museum complex on Poklonnaya Hill are located on the territory of the okrug. The Triumphal Arch, erected in memory of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812, adorns the main highway of the district - Kutuzovsky Prospekt .
The blue color of the banner symbolizes the ecological cleanliness of the district.
