Kakole

Kakole - Kagoro (self-designation), people in Mali . Kakole live dispersedly, mixed with bamana and soninke , in a strip from the Kaarta region to Segu , especially in the Kaarta-Binet region and Gumbu. Close to Maninka Whales. The number is up to 33 thousand [1] . are subjected to intense assimilation by the bamans and soninki (Okhotina 1977: 132).

Content

Language

The language of Kakole is a non-written mande group of the Niger-Kordofan family . Most of the bilinguals and trilinguals ( bamana , soninke ), many have lost their native language, which is in danger of extinction (Andrianov 1964: 75).

Religion

Islam is practiced, most of the believers are Sunni Muslims , a small part remains committed to traditional beliefs (Kirei 1983: 19).

Population

Activities

Slash-and-burn agriculture (sorghum, millet, also corn, cassava , yams, gombo , peanuts, shea wood), as well as cattle breeding (sheep, goats, cattle). The economy, social structure and culture are not much different from bamboo [2] and oriental maninka .

Social Organization

They are united in patrilineal related groups - diamu (Koita-Makalu, Fofana, Kamara, Magas, Magasub, Nyakate), each of which has a common name ban for all members - a totem (University of California 2000: 43). The society is divided into castes: the noble and lower - blacksmiths, griet storytellers. Kakole are in a relationship of "comic relationship" with the dyavambe (dyogorama) (Smith 1974: 61).
