Biography
1891 - 1897 - studied at the Krakow School of Art under J. Matejko and J. Stanislavsky , in Vienna ( 1894 ) and Munich ( 1897 under A. Ashbe ); while studying in Krakow, he became friends with Vasily Stefanik .
From 1898 in Lviv , where he joined the Ukrainian artistic and social life, he became close to Ivan Franko and began to cooperate with the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society , for which he performed various artistic works (in particular, portraits ). The first solo exhibition of I. Trush took place in 1898 and since then, in fact, every year, he took part in exhibitions of Ukrainian and Polish painters that took place in Kiev, Krakow, Warsaw, London, Vienna, Sofia ... On the initiative of NTSH Eastern Ukraine, where he established contact with artists and cultural figures. Trush made creative trips to the Crimea ( 1901-1904 ), Italy ( 1902 , 1908 ), Egypt and Palestine ( 1912 ). Trush initiated and organized the first creative professional societies in Galicia: “Society for the Development of Russian Art” (in Ukrainian) for the development of Ruska units " (1898) and the" Society of supporters of Ukrainian literature, science and art "( Ukrainian. Over the years of his work, Trush painted over six thousand paintings. In the difficult periods for him, he painted 300 works a year.
Works of the master are represented in collections of art museums in Kiev, Transcarpathia, the Dnieper , abroad.
The artistic and memorial museum of the outstanding Ukrainian artist and public figure I. Trush was opened in 1986 in an exquisite two-story villa built in 1910 to the design of the famous architect Alexander Lushpinsky in the Art Nouveau style . In it, the artist lived with his family during the years 1910-1941. The mansion, which is located in Lviv on the street named after Trush, was bequeathed to the National Museum in Lviv by the descendants of the artist for arranging an art memorial museum in it. Since the opening there is a permanent exhibition .
