Story
The pious Quaker William Morgan, the owner of a flotilla of whalers , has a beautiful daughter, Patience, and the obstinate granddaughter Dot, who promises to turn from a teenage tomboy into a feminine girl. Some Morner and Siggs are plotting against Morgan. They want to hijack Morgan's ship in order to transport African gold on it, and in addition to abduct his daughter. Finner dresses up Siggs as a Quaker and takes him to work for Morgan. Promoting quickly, he gains the trust of the owner, gains access to his daughter and makes Patience an offer.
Meanwhile, a girl’s childhood friend, Thomas Allan Dexter, returns to the city after college . Despite the long separation, they quickly get closer and fall in love with each other. Knowing that the father will allow his daughter to get engaged only with the Quaker whaler, Dexter is hired by a sailor on the ship to Morgan.
Finner arranges so that the young man gets on the very ship on which he intends to sail himself and which, he believes, will no longer return to the port. When the ship goes to sea, it turns out that on board, having changed into men's clothes, Dot Morgan sneaked in secretly. She went on an escape to be next to her hobby, young Jimmy young man . The simultaneous disappearance of Dot and Dexter becomes an occasion for gossip in the city - the townspeople are sure that they allegedly fled together.
Dexter has no choice but to obey the circumstances. Dot pursues Jimmy and when he cannot hide from her, he can hardly stand her courtship. One fine day, Finner, stunning the captain, throws him overboard, seizes power on the ship and directs him to the shores of Africa. The team is split - some at the thought of gold are thirsty for profit, others want to return home. Taking advantage of the mood of the second half, Dexter rebels and turns the ship back.
Meanwhile, Morgan insists on the marriage of Patience with Siggs. The girl hates the very thought of this marriage, but, pitying her aging father, she gives in to his persuasion. On Patience's wedding day, Dexter's ship falls into a storm . Then he learns about Finner's insidious plot. When the ship is near land, Finner jumps overboard and floats to shore. Dexter is in a hurry to land in order to prevent the wedding of his beloved, but Finner gets in his way. Nevertheless, the circumstances are not in his favor, and Dexter manages to get to Patience before the irreparable happens and she becomes the wife of another.
