Namsen ( Norwegian Nååmesje ) is a river in Norway . It is located in the Nur-Trøndelag province in the central part of the country and is the largest river of this administrative-territorial unit. Its length is 229 km; the river flows through the municipalities of Reyrvik , Namsskugan , Grong , Uverhalla and Namsus . In the past, it was actively used for rafting woods in Namsos, where sawmills were located. Several dams were built on Namsen [1] .

The river originates in the springs of the Börgefjell National Park on the border of the Nordland fühlke . Namsen waters feed Lake ; then the river follows through a dam in the northwestern part of this lake in the municipality of Reirvik, then through Namdalen (central part of Norway), ending in Namsus and flowing into the fjord of the Norwegian Sea . Among the tributaries of Namsen are Tunnscheelva and [2] . The total area of the basin is 6273.86 km² [3] ; the average water flow rate is 285 m³ / s [1] . In 2012, the construction of a hydropower plant at Namsen [4] .
Namsen is considered one of the largest rivers in the world in terms of salmon reserves, and therefore it is sometimes called the “queen of rivers”. Since the XIX century, the river has become a popular object of fishing tourism, especially among the British. Fishing is often carried out by the so-called "Harling method", when the boat drifts downstream, and salmon falls on the bait, following in the opposite direction [2] .
