About the album
The producer of the disc, traditionally made by Robert Stigwood , mixing was done by John Pantry. The group continued to collaborate with old labels, releasing the British version of the record through Polydor Records and the American with Atco Records . The recording itself took place in the first half of 1968 at several London studios, mainly at IBC Studios .
For the first time, there is a song on the album (“Such a Shame”), the vocal parts of which were performed not by the Gibb brothers - in this case the regular guitarist Vince Melowni performed. In the American version of the publication, this track was replaced by another hit of the group - “I've Gotta Get a Message to You”, however, in the 1980s, during the re-release on another medium, both tracks were included in the track list. World record sales exceeded one million copies.
In 2007, the record company Reprise Records re-released Horizontal as a double CD album with some draft recordings not included in the original edition.
