Biography
By education, Mai Politzer was a midwife .
In 1935, May worked as a stenographer at the mayor of d'Arcueil, and then began to work as secretary of the mayor Marius Sidobre.
In the fall of 1939, the activities of the City Hall were suspended and May Politzer was suspended from work.
On December 15, 1942 , May Politzer and her husband Georges are arrested by the Germans at their home. On May 23, her husband was tortured and executed in Mont Valerian, and May was interned in Romainville and on January 24, 1943, under registration number 31680, she was placed in Auschwitz along with other (non-Jews) members of the French Resistance, mainly communists, including with wives of members of the Resistance, for example, Helene Solomon - the daughter of the scientist Paul Langevin and the wife of the writer Jacques Solomon.
In the concentration camp, May Politzer died of typhus on March 6, 1943.
May 18, 1946 May Politzer was called the "death of France."
On June 5, 1956, with reference to people with a similar fate, the terms "interned persons" and "exiled resistance fighters" were introduced.
Posthumous memory
Since 1945, the city health center has been named May Politzer.
In 1980, Louis Derbré installed a bronze bust as a monument.
Her name was given to a street in the city of Biarritz in southwestern France [2]
