Class “A” competitions were attended by 10 teams from 4 union republics : the RSFSR ( CSK MO , Burevestnik Moscow [1] , Dynamo Moscow , Lokomotiv Moscow , Spartak Leningrad , Burevestnik Sverdlovsk [1] ); USSR ( "Spartak" Kiev , "Petrel" Odessa [1] ); GSSR ( Lokomotiv Tbilisi ); Latvian SSR (ODO Riga).
Competitions were held in a circular system in 1 circle.
For the fourth year in a row, army volleyball players from the club CSK MO became champions. Silver managed to win the debutants - the team "Petrel" Sverdlovsk , bronze managed to defend their teammates from Odessa - "Petrel" Odessa .
