About the album
This is the first international record of the group, as the first two were sold exclusively in Australia and New Zealand. Moving away from the pop stylistics of previous records, the group created this album in the style of psychedelic rock . The cover was designed by German artist Klaus Forman , who previously worked on the Beatles' Revolver album. After the release of the Billboard 200 on the American chart, the record rose to seventh place, while in the UK UK Albums Chart - to eighth.
In 2006, the record company Reprise Records re-released Bee Gees' 1st as a double CD album with some draft recordings not included in the original edition. In honor of one of the album’s songs, the group’s seventh studio album - Cucumber Castle was subsequently named.
