Geographical position
The village is located 12 km south of the administrative center of the village of Kholmskaya .

History
Currently, in the village of Novy there is a dolmen, which is often visited by tourists. And the “cliffs” are a frequent place for visiting tourists and climbers.
In this village, in addition to the ITK, there was a military unit, whose soldiers guarded the colony. In 1988, a specialized psychiatric hospital was established, which until now is a city-forming enterprise, also in the village there is a kindergarten. Before the revolution, there was a leper colony in Pine Grove (which is mentioned in Kaverin’s book “Lepers”), and then, in its place, there was a tuberculosis hospital where adults and children were treated, where children studied at school. Around perestroika times, the tuberculosis hospital was abandoned, but old buildings (buildings, huts) and an old cemetery were preserved at its location, the dates of some burials on it date back to the 19th century.
