History

Minesweeper type "Tone" , named HMS Alverton (M1129) , was built for the British Navy in 1954. In 1971, he was sold to Ireland and became part of its naval forces, receiving the name Banba in honor of the legendary queen from the tribes of the goddess Danu . Immediately after entry into service, the ship, along with the same type of Fola , passed mooring and sea trials in Gibraltar and the Western Mediterranean. After the tests, the ships went to a new base in Ireland, but on the way they got into a storm and were forced to take refuge in the harbor of Lisbon .

In 1984, the ship was withdrawn from the fleet and sold to Spain for cutting into metal.
