Biography
Vasily Androsov was born in 1803 in Roslavl ( Smolensk province ). Having received his initial education at the Smolensk Gymnasium , Vasily Androsov from September 1819 to July 1824 studied at the Department of Moral and Political Sciences ( Faculty of Law, Moscow University ) [1] . In 1824, awarded a gold medal, he was released from the university with a candidate ’s degree.
The very first scientific publication, The Discourse on Kant Philosophy ( Herald of Europe , 1826), brought him fame in the world of Moscow scientists.
Since 1825, he taught geography and statistics at the Moscow Agricultural School , which he opened, took an active part in its organization, and in 1827-1829 he was a fellow (deputy) director. At this time, at the request of the President of the Moscow Society of Agriculture, Prince D.V. Golitsyn, Androsov wrote for students of the agricultural school the manual " Economic Statistics of Russia " (Moscow, 1827), in which he systematized all the scattered data of the then ancestral history. This book, a review of which was given by academicians Storch and German, was awarded a dedication to Emperor Nicholas I and printed at public expense, and the author himself was awarded a diamond ring.
In 1824-1829 he was published in the "Agricultural Journal". Member of the almanac " Northern Lyre for 1827."
In 1828, Androsov participated in the editorial office of M. G. Pavlov ’s Russian-language literary and critical journal “ Athenaeum ”. In 1835-1837 he edited the Moscow Observer , and then (from the 2nd book) he became the publisher of this magazine. The magazine was not very popular with readers and after 3 years was transferred to other hands.
In 1829, Androsov was appointed secretary of the then committee for sorting Russian wool. From 1831 to 1839 he published the "Journal for Sheep Breeders" - at that time very famous and widespread in Russia, where he published 132 articles on the problems of this livestock industry.
In 1832, as an official of special assignments under the Moscow military governor-general , on behalf of Prince D.V. Golitsyn, Androsov created his most important work, called the "Statistical Note on Moscow."
At the end of his life, he was collecting materials for the history of Russian civilization.
He died in the 39th year of his life [2] and was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery .
